Attempts on Election Day to Hack Into SC Voter Database

To understand the scale of the Hacking attempts against Election Systems in the 2016 Presidential Election, consider South Carolina.

On General Election Day alone, there were nearly 150,000 attempts to Penetrate the State’s Voter Registration system, according to a Postelection report by the South Carolina State Election Commission.

South Carolina wasn’t even a Competitive State.

If Hackers were that persistent against a State that President Trump won comfortably, with 54.9% of the Vote, it suggests they may have Targeted Political Swing States even more.

South Carolina did not find evidence that would suggest the attempted Breaches were Successful.

Most of the Hacking attempts likely came from Automated Computer Bots.

The report comes as the Federal Probe into Russian Election Meddling and Alleged Ties between the Trump Campaign and the Kremlin continues.

Officials from the Department of Homeland Security said in June that Russian Hackers Targeted Election-related systems in 21 States leading up to Election Day.

The Obama Administration has said that Voter Databases in Arizona and Illinois were Targeted by Foreign Hackers.
